SOUTHWEST POTTERY

Pottery is not only the most prolific historical southwestern artifact; it is also the most recognizable. No one would confuse a black-on-black Maria Martinez jar with its glazed ceramic counterpart from western Pennsylvania. Remarkable geometric designs and unique renderings of feathers, animals and clouds provide immediate points of identification that establish pottery as “Made in the Southwest.”
